Sapper
Minesweeper that never makes you guess. Rated by the thinking it needs.
Every board in No-guess mode is checked by a solver before you see it: from your first tap to the last cell there is always a safe deduction, never a 50/50. Square, hex, triangle, knight and torus boards, a daily board, a 1,200-board ladder, and 3BV/s on every result. No ads.
Android 8.0 and up, iOS 15 and up, from one build, in preparation for both stores. This page is where each listing will be announced.
No guessing, and "hard" means harder thinking
A four-tier solver certifies every No-guess board before it is shown, and rates it by the hardest technique the solution needs. A Sharp board is not a board with more mines; it is the same grid asking more of you.
- One number decides itA number whose hidden neighbours are all mines, or all safe.
- Two numbers, one inside the otherOne number's cells are a subset of another's, and the difference decides them.
- Every arrangement agreesEvery way the mines could lie along the edge puts a cell on the same side.
- The mine count decides itThe mines left on the counter settle what the numbers alone cannot.
No-guess
Certified solvable by deduction, rated by technique, timed, with its own statistics per preset and band. The mode the app opens on.
Classic
Standard rules for purists: the first tap always opens a region, and after that a guess may be needed. When one is, the hint says so.
Zen
Any preset, no timer and no death: a mine you tap is shown and flagged and play goes on, with one undo at a time.
Five board shapes
Beginner, Intermediate and Expert on every one, and the same solver certifying each.
Square
Eight neighbours
The classic, at the three sizes everyone knows: 9×9 with 10, 16×16 with 40, 30×16 with 99.
Hex
Six neighbours
A board that looks like nothing else and reads differently: every cell touches six, and there are no diagonals to argue about.
Triangle
Twelve neighbours
Every cell touching twelve others, for experts: each number covers far more ground, and says less about any one cell.
UnlockKnight
A knight's move away
A number counts the mines a knight's move from it, not the cells beside it. The grid is familiar; the reading is not.
UnlockTorus
The edges wrap
Left meets right and top meets bottom, so every cell has eight neighbours and there is no safe corner to start from.
Unlock
Your dials
- A Custom card with width, height and density as three separate sliders, shown as a percentage and as a mine count, on any of the five shapes.
- Up to 30 a side at 10–20% density free; up to 50×50 — 2,500 cells — at 5–25% with the unlock.
- The shape and the dials are remembered, so a trip to another screen does not reset them.
- The last mode and preset are kept on the Play screen, and one tap starts the next board.
Controls that respect your thumb
The complaint in the genre's reviews is a flag that turned into a reveal on the way up. Here a long-press that has placed a flag consumes the gesture, and lifting your finger does nothing.
A hold you can tune
Set the long-press from 150 to 600 ms, and try it on a test pad right there in the setting before you go back to a board.
Tap and hold, your way
Tap to reveal and hold to flag, or swap them. A big flag toggle in the tray flips tap and hold with one touch. Double-tap to flag, if you prefer.
Chording
Tap a satisfied number to open its neighbours, or hold it instead, or switch chording off. A number that cannot chord yet pulses so you know why.
Big boards, small screens
Pinch to zoom and pan with one finger. The tray can sit on the left for a left hand, or the right.
Numbers you can trust
The minesweeper community's own measures, not a black-box score.
- Time to a tenth of a second, 3BV and 3BV/s on every result card, with the board's rating, the hints used and a Clean mark for a solve with neither hints nor mines.
- Personal bests per preset and mode, with the delta on every win. A best made with a hint does not count as one.
- Stats by mode — No-guess, Classic and Zen: games, wins, win rate, average, best 3BV/s and clean runs, and a history of every game.
- The history is never truncated: no update deletes a result, and there is no button that does either.
- Every board has an id you can copy from its result card. Replay a board you won, or retry one you lost — every board but the daily, which is one attempt a day.
Hints that teach
A hint rings the numbers that prove the next move and outlines the cells they decide, and names the technique in one line — "Two numbers, one inside the other". It shows the reasoning, not just the answer.
The proof, not the cell
The ring sits on the evidence and the dashes on the conclusion, so the next time that pattern turns up, you are the one who sees it.
"This is a guess"
In Classic, when nothing can be deduced, the hint says so plainly: no safe move exists. The most useful thing a minesweeper can tell you.
Honest about cost
A board solved with a hint is marked on its result card, is not a personal best, and on the ladder costs a star.
A daily board, and a ladder
Two ways to play that are not another random board.

- The daily board is one No-guess board a day, the same for everyone, built on your phone from the date. No server and no signal: every device makes the same board from the same day.
- Solve it and your streak grows. Every seventh day in a row banks a freeze, up to two, spent for you on a day you miss. A freeze is earned, never bought.
- A month calendar shows the days you solved and the days a freeze covered. Today's board is free; every past day opens with the unlock.
- The ladder is forty chapters of thirty boards, 1,200 in all, rated from all-Gentle up to Fierce and shipped in the app, each one certified by the solver.
- No death on the ladder: three stars for a clean solve, two with one mine hit, one with a hint or two. The first three chapters are free.
- A daily reminder around six in the evening, off until you switch it on.
Made to be looked at
Flat, fast and vector-drawn, with the polish in the motion: a flood that ripples out from your tap, a flag that pops, a win that settles.
- Slate, OLED and Paper themes free; a hand-drawn Retro theme and an Ink theme with the unlock; or follow the system's light and dark.
- Colour-blind numbers in the Okabe–Ito palette, or pick each of the eight number colours yourself.
- Animation at Normal, Fast or Off, and Reduce motion for no shakes and no confetti. Sound and haptics each have switches, haptics per flag, chord and mine.
- Question marks as a third tap, if you want them. The first tap is always safe.
- A screen reader reads the board cell by cell — row, column and what is there — and the app speaks 22 languages.
Inside the app
Screens off a real device, nothing redrawn.

Yours, on your phone
No account, no sign-in, no server. Every board is generated on the device or shipped inside the app, and every game, result and best is written to a database on it.
Offline
The generator, the solver, the daily board and the ladder are all on the device. Airplane mode changes nothing but the store.
A backup that is a file you keep
Settings › Data › Export backup writes one file, wherever you choose. Import it on another device and it merges without ever lowering a best. The app has no way to send it anywhere.
Two switches, yours
Crash reports and Usage events, in Settings › Data. No ad id, no user id, and both start switched off in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland.
The whole account is in the privacy policy.

Six facts about the build. They are the product rather than decoration on it.

Questions
How do you know a board needs no guessing?
Before a No-guess board is shown, a solver plays it from the opening using only deductions — one number, a subset of two, every arrangement of the edge, and the mine count — and a board it cannot finish is repaired and checked again. The same solver is what the hint uses, so the proof a hint shows you is the proof the board was certified with. The solver is tested against an independent reference on a golden set of boards, and every ladder board is certified again whenever the solver changes.
What do Gentle, Standard, Sharp and Fierce mean?
They are bands of the board's rating: which techniques its solution needed, and how often. A Gentle board falls to single numbers; a Fierce one leans on whole-edge reasoning and the mine count. The band is independent of size, so you can play a Fierce Beginner or a Gentle Expert.
What are 3BV and 3BV/s?
3BV is the minimum number of clicks that clears a board — each opening counts once and each number outside one counts once — so it measures how much work a board is. 3BV/s is 3BV divided by your time, the community's measure of speed that is fair across boards of different difficulty. Both are on every result card, and your best 3BV/s is on the Stats screen.
How does the daily board work?
Every phone builds the same No-guess board from the date, so everyone plays the same board that day with nothing downloaded. Solving it grows your streak; every seventh day in a row banks a freeze, up to two, which covers a missed day automatically. Today's board is free, and the past days in the calendar open with the unlock.
Does it work offline?
Entirely. The only things that ever want a connection are the store — the purchase, the restore, Android's update check and the rating sheet — and the two diagnostics switches, if you have them on.
Do I need an account?
There isn't one. No sign-in, no profile, and no server of ours for either to live on. To move to a new phone, export a backup from Settings › Data and import it there; the import merges, so nothing you have is ever lowered by it.
What does the unlock cost, and is it a subscription?
It is one purchase, once, priced by the store in your own currency, and it is not a subscription. It adds the triangle, knight and torus boards, the Sharp and Fierce bands, the whole ladder, every past daily, bigger custom boards and the Retro and Ink themes.
Which platforms is it on?
Android 8.0 and up and iOS 15 and up, built from one source set, on phones and tablets. Both are in preparation for their stores, and this page is where each listing will be announced.
Every board solvable. Every move provable.
A minesweeper for anyone who has been sweeping mines since the desktop and never wants to guess again.
