Thwack
Launch it. Wreck it. Score it.
You run the crash test. Swing the ramp, hold the pedal, let go — a hatchback, a cow or a grand piano flies across the yard into something built to fall down, and the wreck is scored in dollars of damage. Every level ships only once a winning shot is proven to exist, so a miss is never luck.
Android 8.0 and up, iOS 15 and up, phones and tablets, played in landscape, from one build in preparation for both stores. This page is where each listing will be announced.
Set the numbers. Let go.
Every level puts a launcher on the left and something built to fall down on the right, with one clear goal on the chip at the top. You aim it, you power it, and then the physics is on its own.
- Swing the rampGrab it with your thumb and swing it up or down to set the angle. The readout shows it to a tenth of a degree.
- Hold the pedalThe longer you hold, the harder it goes. The pedal sits on whichever side you set it.
- Let go, then tapRelease to launch, and tap once in the air for the payload's own trick — a boost, a belly-flop, three chicks.
Every wreck scored in dollars
Nothing is marked out of ten. Each piece that breaks, falls or flies is added up as damage, the payload's own dents count too, and the level's goal decides whether the test is approved.

One to three stars
Meet the goal and the test is approved. The bar under the report shows the totals for the second and third stars, so you know how far off the perfect hit you were.
The shot, written down
The report keeps the angle, the power and the moment you tapped, beside your best on that level — so the next try is a correction, not a guess.
Again, or watch it
Again puts the same level back at the launcher. Replay runs the crash again from the start, and the physics lands it exactly the same way.
Ramps, cranes and catapults
Each launcher plays differently, and each is taught on its own before a level asks you to use it well. The line in gold is what the coach says the first time you meet it.
Ramp rig
Grab the ramp. Swing it. Hold the pedal. Let go.
Drive off the end and fly. Where it all starts.
Magnet crane
Slide the magnet. Tap DROP.
A car held over the scene, and one moment to let it fall.
Tyre bungee
Pull back to aim. Let go.
A slingshot made of tyres: the pull is the power, the direction is the angle.
Swing crane
Tap DROP mid-swing.
A payload on a pendulum. Timing is everything, and a swing passes the right place twice.
Catapult
Hold to wind. Tap to throw.
A timber throwing arm on a cart, wound up by a winch, with a cow in the basket.
Tyre swing
Pull back. Tap to let go.
Hung from an apple tree, and the animals ride it.
Firework rail
Light it. Tap to cut loose.
A rocket taped to the payload, and a choice of when to let go of it.
Street run
Hold for speed. Let go.
A whole street to build up speed on before the hit.
Diving board
Hold. Let go on the dip.
Bounce it, and release at the bottom of the bend for the biggest throw.
Cars, cows and pianos
Everything flies differently — by its weight, its bounce and what it does when you tap it in the air. One tap, before it touches anything.
- Cars crumple, lose doors and bonnets, and add their own damage to the bill. A car that is written off says so.
- Animals bounce instead of breaking, and see stars when they land. Cartoon slapstick, start to finish.
- Household things — a fridge, a sofa, a grand piano — are heavy, awkward, and very satisfying to drop on something.
- Some levels give you more than one payload, or more than one run, and a goal that needs all of them.

From the Junkyard to the Suburbs
A journey on one winding road of levels, three places long. Every chapter brings something new to knock down, and a card to show you what it is the first time it turns up.
The Junkyard
Angle and power, stone and glass, scrap towers and the first cranes. Where the crash test begins.
The Farm
Animals that bounce instead of break, hay bales, seesaws, silos, wind to read off the windsock, and water.
The Suburbs
Fireworks, domino streets, skate parks, moving day and a pool party.
- Some levels hide a collectible — a hubcap, an egg, a gnome — to grab in the air on the way through.
- Find every one in a chapter and it earns a sticker for your car, and a gold badge on the map.
- Stars earn car skins in the Garage.
- The Field Guide keeps every piece you have met, drawn as it looks on the stage, with the chapter that brought it.
Every level can be beaten
Every level is crash tested before it ships. A search fires shot after shot across the whole range of angles and powers, and a level is kept only if a region of winning shots exists and the winning shot it recorded replays exactly. If you miss, a better shot was there.
- The Ghost shows the region where winning shots are — not the shot itself — so you still find it with your own thumb.
- Ghosts refill over time: three banked, one more every five minutes, or five banked and one every thirty seconds with the unlock.
- A level you cannot beat can be skipped: one skip a day, or five banked with the unlock. The road goes on either way.
- No lives, no energy, no coins to grind. Play as many levels as you like, as many times as you like.
A Daily, and a Test Yard
Two ways to play that are not the next level on the road.

- The Daily gives you three shots at a different challenge every day, built on your phone from the chapters you have reached. One attempt, a score to beat, and a streak to keep.
- A month calendar keeps the days you played. Today's challenge is free; past days open with the unlock.
- The Test Yard is a sandbox: pick a launcher, a payload and a place — open ground or a scene from a chapter you have reached — press Build, and crash things for the score alone.
- One launcher, three payloads and one place in the Yard are free. The unlock opens every launcher, payload, place and chapter setup, and a seed field to build the same setup again.
Made for your thumbs
Landscape, two thumbs, and a stage that is clear of both.
Gestures, or buttons
Swing and hold with gestures, or switch on assist controls for buttons and steppers on every launcher.
Either hand
The pedal goes on the left or the right. Pinch to zoom in on the target, and one button fits the whole scene back on the screen.
Colour-blind and calm
A colour-blind palette for approved and rejected, reduce motion, and slow motion on the big hits if you want it.
A camera that follows
A cinematic crash camera for the big hits, with a switch in Settings if you would rather watch the whole stage.
Read aloud
Screen-reader labels on every control, from the dials to the damage report.
22 languages
From Arabic to Vietnamese, with the places, the payloads and the car skins named in yours.
Inside the game
Screens off a real device playing real levels, nothing redrawn.

What stays on your phone, and what does not
No account, no sign-in, no server of ours. Every level is shipped inside the app and rebuilt on the device, the Daily is built on the phone, and your progress is kept on it.
Ads, for free players
The occasional ad between levels is served through AppLovin, which reads the device's advertising ID to do it. On a device that owns Thwack Unlocked the ad SDK is never started, and on iOS the game never asks to track you.
Two switches, yours
Crash reports and Usage data, each its own switch under Settings › Diagnostics. Both start off in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and either can be turned off anywhere.
A backup that is a file you keep
Settings › Backup exports your progress to one file, wherever you choose, and imports it on another device. It merges without ever lowering a star or a best. The app has no way to send it anywhere.
The whole account is in the privacy policy.
Free to play, one unlock
Every level is free, from the first ramp in the Junkyard to the last level in the Suburbs. Nothing on the road is behind the purchase, and nothing is sold by the piece.

Questions
How do you know every level can be beaten?
Every level is built on our own machines and then searched shot by shot across its angles and powers before it ships. A level is kept only if a region of winning shots exists and its recorded winning shot replays to the same result in the game's own physics. The same search is what the Ghost draws from, so the region it shows you is a region that really wins.
What does the Ghost show?
The region where winning shots are — a band of angles on the ramp, a stretch of the pedal, a window on a swing — and not the shot itself. You still have to find it with your own thumb, which is the point. Ghosts refill with time; the unlock banks more and refills them faster, and adds a second tap that shows the region that also grabs the level's collectible.
Are there ads?
For free players, yes, and only one kind: a full-screen ad after a result card, once every ten levels cleared, starting after the first chapter. There is no banner, no ad during a shot and no rewarded ad. Thwack Unlocked removes them — on a device that owns it the ad code is never started at all.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Every level is inside the app and the Daily is built on the phone, so a flight or a tunnel changes nothing about the game. The things that want a connection are the store — the purchase, the restore, the rating sheet and Android's update check — the ads, and the two diagnostics switches, if you have them on.
Do I need an account?
There isn't one. No sign-in, no profile, and no server of ours for either to live on. To move to a new phone, export a backup from Settings and import it there; the import merges, so nothing you have is lowered by it.
Is it violent?
It is cartoon slapstick. Cars crumple and get X-eyes, buildings fall over, and animals bounce, see stars and dust themselves off. There is no blood, and the only person in the game is a wooden crash-test dummy.
What does the unlock cost, and is it a subscription?
It is one purchase, once, priced by the store in your own currency, and it is not a subscription. It removes the ads and adds the whole Test Yard, every car skin, the Daily archive, a bigger and faster Ghost, five skips banked and the collectible Ghost. Every level is free without it.
Which platforms is it on?
Android 8.0 and up and iOS 15 and up, on phones and tablets, built from one source set and played in landscape. Both are in preparation for their stores, and this page is where each listing will be announced.
Find the perfect hit.
